Women: They usually wore dresses or leather shirts and skirts sometimes with removable sleeves. The Algonquin used a belt to hold up the skirts and wore a cloth band or cap to decorate their head and their hair was usually in braids. They used moccasins as shoes.
Men: Men only used breech-clloths and moccasins and sometimes wore a fur cloak over half of their body in the winter. Each man had their own hairstyle. A couple are having one half shaved or shaving everything but a strip down the middle.Some men got tattoos too show they are permanently part of their tribe.Men in the northern Algonquin tribes wear shirts, tunics or mantles whereas men in the southern Algonquin tribes chose to go shirtless.
Materials: Tanned animal hides were usually worn by the Algonquin. Paint was used to decorate their outfits along with shells, stones, porcupine quills, moose hair, and beads. Paint was made with berries, root juice, charcoal, and soot. Clothing was made with fur, the skins of animals, corn husks, tree fiber, birds and fish. Animal sinew was used as thread.
