The Algonquin lived in villages of 800-900 people. The Algonquin built a dome shaped house called a wigwam, only one family can live in a wigwam. Traditionally women built the wigwams. To make a wigwam you need: saplings covered in bark, chestnuts, sticks, and oak and elm wood. The Algonquin put animal hides over the roof. They also hung moose hide in the doorway with a wooden pole sewn to the bottom to hold the door down.
In the wigwam there is cedar and rush mats cover the ground, their beds were made out of similar mats, spruce logs and skins for warmth in the winter time.
